PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOPS

Workshops every Saturday during school terms from 9:00-12:30
NCT Workshops are open to all children who are motivated to learn, grow, and explore the world of theatre and the performing arts.
The program is an ongoing, year round training project for children of diverse backgrounds and has been designed to teach students about live theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes. The syllabus includes drama, music, dance and physical theatre. Through these classes children get the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, strengthening self-esteem, confidence, courage and powers of expression, and are encouraged to discover their hidden potential.

Children are grouped by age:
Green Group: 7 - 9 yrs
Purple Group: 10 -11 yrs
Red Group: 12 -13 yrs
Black Group: 14 -17 yrs.
Junior Drama: 5 - 7 yrs

THEATRE BOOK CLUB
Calling everybody with a love for reading, books and the theatre!
Every month we are reading a specific book that is linked to one of our live theatre productions.
We get together once a month, on a Saturday, to discuss the book, engage in fun activities based on the book and we end by watching the theatre production.
We welcome local & international interns to join us for training and to gain valuable experience in the performing arts industry. We have had interns from South-Africa, France, America and the Netherlands. Internships on offer include
Join the author of Shakespeare in South-Africa, Dr Rohan Quince to read, appreciate and enjoy the work of the Bard. Saturdays 14:30-16:30.
Explore the world of the theatre as you sing, dance, act and explore!
Our 5 day holiday camps are exciting, educational and lots of fun. Children will have a great time working together and developing their acting skills.
DRAMA CLUB FOR
Our Drama classes for homeschoolers are designed to build confidence and develop valuable social skills in communication, problem solving and team work.
The class aims to challenge the student’s creativity and use of imagination. Drama is a “can-do” space which allows and encourages the student to explore ideas without the fear of failing or being wrong.
In these classes students can expect to explore the way other people think, feel and communicate, helping them understand others and themselves on a deeper level.
The NACTIES is our advance program for budding young thespians. This class prepares aspiring actors to be a part of our productions, giving them a chance to share the stage with professional actors. The NACTIES meet every Saturday from 12h45 - 14h45 and enrolment is by audition only.
We create dynamic interpretations of PRIMARY and HIGH school set works to tour to schools. These theatre productions are engaging and entertaining and bring the texts to life, making the work accessible to .
LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMS
We create theatre productions for the empowerment of SA youth from all socio-economic backgrounds. Through these interactive and powerful edutainment programs, young people learn to identify, debate and deal with choices, responsibilities and the pressures they face everyday.
YOUNG DIRECTORS FESTIVAL
The Young Directors Program was created to provide opportunities for graduates to build experience and develop their craft. This programme is intended to equip young directors with producing and stage management skills as well as directing experience and mentorship.
Every year, 5 young directors are selected to participate in the program.
The 2019 festival took place in September to form part of our Heritage celebrations.
Gamelihle Bovana and his cast were announced as the 2019 winner by adjudicator Renos Spanoudes.
