Unveiling RIDGEHOLM Plaque

It was a memorable occasion for National Children’s Theatre (NCT) as representatives from Johannesburg Heritage Foundation, City of Johannesburg, Parktown Councillor Mr Sihlwele Myeki, stake holders, friends and media gathered to celebrate the unveiling of two plaques designating the theatre houses of Ridgeholm and Wynnstay heritage sites.

The unveiling took place on Wednesday, 17 September 2014, at National Children’s Theatre, 3 Junction Avenue, Parktown, Johannesburg. Executive director of the Naledi Awards, Dawn Lindberg, was the Master of Ceremonies and introduced all the guest speakers. First was Councillor Sihlwele Myeki who welcomed everyone to Parktown, Eric Itzkin then spoke on the values of heritage houses and their adaptive reuse.

Flo Bird, Vice Chairman of the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation unveiled the Wynnstay plaque and Dr Chesterton Smith from the Gauteng Department of Education unveiled the Ridgehom plaque. Erna Solomon chairman of the NCT Board of Trustees on behalf of NCT made the vote of thanks. Guests were entertained by NACTIES from NCT Saturday Theatre Workshops.

We are delighted to announce that Emma has been awarded the Joyce Levinsohn Theatre scholarship for 2014.  We wish to recognize Emma’s exceptional talent, her dedication and hard work and her achievements over the years she has been with us.

The scholarship covers all fees for the year for any workshops Emma wishes to attend and also any NACTIES programmes.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Emma, to you and to the rest of your family. We look forward to working with Emma in 2014 and know she will continue to   enchant us with her sweetness and talent and to be a shining example to the other children.
